ESS Course Eligible for Canada Job Grant

Did you know that workSMART® Academy’s 5-day Ergonomics Systems Specialist (ESS) course qualifies for the Canada Job Grant? That means you could earn your ESS designation at a significant discount (up to 100% in certain situations) off the regular tuition price when your employer successfully applies to utilize these funds. Your employer may also qualify for reimbursement of travel costs related to the course. Many of our ESS designees have been successful CJG applicants and are happy to discuss the process with you. Some key points to remember:

  • Public sector employers are not eligible for the grant funds.
  • You must apply for the CJG prior to paying for the course (at least 30 days in advance).
  • You have 6 months to start the course after you receive approval.
  • You have 30 days from the completion of the course to submit your receipt for reimbursement, along with course completion certificate.
  • Specific rules surrounding the Canada Job Grant vary by province. Be sure to read the documentation on the website carefully.

We will provide you the required documentation (confirmation of dates and classroom hours) to submit with your application. Once it has been approved, you will receive a confirmation number to submit for reimbursement following the course.

If you are in health & safety, HR, or management of an organization looking to implement an ergonomics program from the ground up, this is an ideal course that provides you with the tools and resources to do so. During the 5-day workshop, you will learn how to achieve ergonomics buy-in, hazard ID, risk assessment, risk control strategies, program measurement, and more.
